In contemporary society, with cutting-edge technology development, the rate of overweight people is significantly increasing at an alarming speed because they are living in a world equipped with abundant convenience, which enables them not to move. There is a variety of principal reasons for this phenomenon and effective approaches have already been suggested to deal with the outstanding matter.
To begin with, this growing number of obese people is caused by such serious problems are mainly caused by two factors – “passive” and “active”. Firstly, when it comes to “passive” elements that humans cannot control, it can seen that working and society status lead workers to serious health conditions, especially obesity. In detail, due to rapid modernization, fierce competition in the workplace is an unavoidable issue. Thus, people always have to express their immersive passion to bosses if they desire to be highly appreciated or not to be fired. For this reason, the workers are responsible for devoting their force to work for extra time, which makes them eat in a very short time to increase the working-time proportion. Consequently, starting working immediately after eating without exercise can lead to obesity. Moreover, besides “passive elements”, there are some potential active ones that directly affect individuals’ health. Firstly, when lifestyle-related factors are taken into consideration, it is obviously seem that modern citizens gradually do fewer outdoor activities than their previous generations because all things in their daily lives are simply generated by “one-click”. For example, although people tended to purchase things in shops or supermarkets some years ago, individuals gradually prefer going shopping on online convenient platforms. Moreover, due to the globalized phenomenon, fast-food chains have developed as an inevitable trend. Consequently, the remarkable rising rate of “high calorie” consumption greatly contributes to the national high number of people suffering from obesity.
Although the matter is getting worse and worse, some effective methods can cope with the problem. First and foremost, the government should pass a policy that encourages workers to exercise at least thirty minutes in offices for example, which largely helps officers avoid serious obesity and enhance their health status. Besides, the government should strictly treat any companies forcing their employees to do overtime, thereby guaranteeing individuals’ durable working ability. Also, officers should heighten awareness about the current condition themselves by being equipped with knowledge about how to balance working and daily activities. Also, the adverse consequences of being overweight should be advertised socially to prevent this fatal phenomenon.
To sum up, it is evident that an inactive lifestyle and a competitive workplace are the two main reasons which greatly incline the national obesity rate. To tackle this, we need comprehensive approaches, including supportive policy, active environments, and educated healthcare support, for a healthier future.
