There is an ongoing debate about wether usage of land for planting vegetables is more efficient than using land to get meat from livestock. While some people might have differing opinions, I strongly agree with the former idea because planting vegetables is less harmful for the environment and it requires little care .
One of the main reasons of why I agree is that growing vegetables is more environmentaly-friendly, as plants participate in photosyntethis. Plants produce a large amount of oxygen, consuming carbon dioxide, therefore, leading to a better quality of air. By contrast, animals produce excrements, which as a result, leads to an increased amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as methane and carbon dioxide. Growing vegetables also require a little resources, compared with raising animals, which tend to need a lot more food and water.
Another significant reason is that, for using land to grow vegetables farmers do not need various resources, time, and strength. While to maintain livestock it is necessary to have a huge land for them to graze on, large quantity of food, and veterinary services; plants only require watering, protection from harmful insects and patience. For example, for livestock it is essential to take a lot of care, as they are alive creatures, and be strong because they might be uncooperative. In terms of vegetables, farmers plant them, before observing and waiting several months for harvesting.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that using land for crop farming is more efficient and causes little damage to nature. Therefore governments and individuals should adopt responsible regulations to maximize its benefits.
