Band 5+: The pressures of today's society often mean that both parents in a family have to work. Some say this creates a poor environment for children to grow up in. What is your opinion?

In recent years, due to the magnificent and spectacular technologies and inventions, the word has evolved significantly, offering many job and educational opportunities to its inhabitants. Since the Industrial Revolution more women have been employed in factories, especially in the textile sector, and these figures increased dramatically in the last century, with females engaging in more positions. For this reason, experts argue that children nowadays are growing in a poor environment because both parents have to labour.

On one hand, research displays that a parent’s presence is very indispensable for children’s education and when young ones hang out more with their mother and father they mature more content and well mannered. In addition, caretakers represent a role model for their little ones and their engagement in their children’s educational and daily life and in their behavior will increase their self-confidence and self-esteem. Therefore, the environment in which parents will bring up their little ones will be pleasant and full of harmony.

On the other hand, during their day children spend most of their time at school and both parents have the opportunity to engage in their work activities. In addition, if mothers spent all their time running the household or taking care of their children and they would have no time to develop their job career, they would feel too stressed and trapped in their role as housewives’ world. This would also create a not accurate and hazardous environment for children to be raised in because mothers will take out their frustrations on the family setting.

In a nutshell, if both parents have a job career, it does not mean that the setting in which they bring up their children is poor. In contrast, it would be better if mothers also engage in the work environment to not regret it and create a harmful atmosphere for their children.
