It is universally accepted that the precaution from ailments is more important than cure and remedy. Some people claim that government should be the one signifying this by their budget. From my point of view, I defintely believe that prevetion is better than treatment but government funding should not only spend on preventing but also on curing to assure that their community sustain a healthy status.
First of all, there are lots of diseases and health problems such as heart attack, lung cancer, diabete and obesity can be avoid by leading a healthy life style which contain work-life balance, healthy diet and excercise. Besides, people can be protected from some infectious epidemic such as dengue, flu, rabie if they are vaccinated. In addition, the cost of healing is far more expensive than prevention when the illness become serious. People have to pour a fortune into medical procedures but can not sure about the recovery. Thus, the authorities need to use their budget on raising people awareness activities through news, tv shows, magazines and health care conferences. Moreover, the money ought to spend on study and research for vaccine and prevetion method for new ailments.
From another perspective, the prevention sometimes is futile with genetic, inborn or geographic diseases, take liver cancer, congenital heart defect for examples. In that case, the funding have to be consumed by research for treatment, medicine, medical eqipment. It is undeniable that the effectiveness rate of prevention can not reach 100%, especially in under circumstance of accident and medicine is proved its efficient. Thereby, the facilities for healing such as lab machines, hospital’s infrustructure also need to be invested by the gorvernment expenditure.
Taking everything into consideration, I suppose the government funding should go to the prevention of diseases but the treatment of serious diseases should not be neglected.
