Discussion

Band 5+: The question of whether students should pursue a career right after high school or continue higher education has recently become the topic of discussion. While I agree that attending college or university have some advantages, I believe that starting work early is still a better option.

(1) In today’s modern society, college education plays a crucial role in students’ lives for many reasons. (2) Firstly, students have more opportunities meet people from diverse backgrounds and, therefore, are able to broaden their social network.(3) As a result, they passively absorb a wide range of soft skills, such as communication, presentation, and collaboration (4) Secondly, employment opportunities are more accessible for college graduates as formal qualifications can prove their abilities in a specific profession. (5) Doctors, for instance, require some relevant degrees to apply, including a college degree, which means that it is impossible to work as a doctor without going to college

(1)Students who choose to start working early have some sources of advantages. (2)First, by having a job, they can start earning money, which helps them cover their living expenses. (3)As a result, they tend to become more financially independent compared to their peers , which may build up their confidence to some extent. (4)Moreover, seeking employment soon can help students gain hands-on experience and develop practical skills soon, and in the long term, they will have considerable experience to deal with different situations, which facilitates career advancement and potential success early

In conclusion, the advantages of entering the workforce early seems to outweigh the benefits of attending college or university.
