In the last decade, environmental changes have been a concern for many people. Some people believe that the best method to overcome these changes is by increasing fuel prices. However, I personally believe taking such tragic measures would not be the solution to environmental problems.
To begin with, Increasing the prices of fuel will eventually widen the gap between the upper class and the middle and lower class.
To illustrate; the Upper classes will not get affected by such changes in the prices of fuel. Since they are more comfortable with spending, they can conveniently adapt to increasing fuel prices without even being bothered by it. On the contrary, the middle and lower classes are drastically affected by slight changes in fuel. Most of these classes commute with their cars; therefore, a slight change in fuel prices will heavily affect their household income, thus, more financial burden to cover the cost of their living.
Another reason why increasing fuel prices is far less beneficial is that technology has introduced more effective ways to decrease environmental problems. Scientists and engineers have thankfully introduced electric cars. Such alternative options will not only decrease fuel consumption but also decrease people’s spending on fuel, consequently, saving more money for other essentials.
In conclusion, attaining the concept of increasing fuel prices regularly has far more disadvantages. I believe that increasing fuel prices will negatively affect people’s lives. Governments should work to find more reliable solutions to control environmental changes without increasing the financial burdens on people’s lives.
