It is argued that the considerable amount of money funded for restoration of ancient historic buildings in main large cities worldwide should be better spent on the improvement of residential areas and roads development. This essay disagrees with that suggestion completely because of the far-reaching consequences that it could bring to the cultural preservation and development of tourism in major cities.
As regards the first reason why governments should allocate money to keep historic buildings safe and protect them from a natural destruction is due to its impact on cultural aspect. It is evident that all the buildings which hold crucial memorials of past historic events are undoubtedly priceless treasures of any nation due to the fact that they pass knowledge from generation to generation . If the historic buildings won’t be supported often, it is expected for them to ruin totally after some time, in this sense, i think it would bring about disadvantages such lack of interest and knowledge of the younger citizens about their own history. My hometown would be perfect example in this case, it lacks historic sites for the reason that they were naturally ruined as time went by, so the youth has almost no initiative of exploring their own historical and cultural background.
The reallocation of governmental finances directly to housing and infrastructure instead of repairment of old buildings would also result in the decrease in the number of tourists overall. As many countries had established their high economic stability with the help of international visitors, who mostly intend to visit historic sites, financial limit is definitely about to influence negatively. In addition, historic buildings serve as an instrument of exploration for people from abroad, which means that it promotes the cities reputation, so it is important to preserve them. For example, Kair -capital city of Egypt which significantly boosted its economy and strengthened in terms of worldwide acclaim with the help of stably restored historic sites such as pyramids and statues exactly which attracted millions of tourists all over the world.
In conclusion, despite some favorable outcomes of better expenditure on modern facilities and needs, i am more convinced that it is more crucial to appreciate historical wealth and keep it as full and safe as it is possible.
