Band 5+: The rise of social media platforms has made it easier for people to vent their frustration and complaints publicly. What are the advantages and disadvantages of such a trend?

In todays’ society, the improvement in technology has lead proliferation of social media applications. The advancement in this sector give society a freedom in conveying their feelings blatantly in public. This essay will provide possible advantages and drawbacks of people in expressing their emotion publicly through social media.

There are two visible advantages of the ease of expressing in social media. Firstly, because social media platforms has provided the tools to release their thought public, people can give an accurate comment. Even thought the comment can be negative, that might be helpful for other people. Some social medias such as twitter and facebook provide people with the freedom to present their thought and opinion about anything such as fashions, foods, and many kind of services. This can benefit the others who might want to use the same services either buying online products or enjoying the facilities to minimize the potential risk of using the same services. In addition, convey feeling to the public can reduce the level of stress people might have from a situation because other people who notice their comment can give a validation, emotional support and also provide an advice that might help to solve the problem.

On the other hand, the downsides of deliver thought easily from social media must be noted. Firstly, people who conveying their feelings repeated on social media might lose their privacy as they become comfortable with this behaviour. Sharing every situation on social media might lead to the loss of privacy as they enjoy sharing everything on social media. Additionally, if people recklessly put a negative comment about some products or services can influence others to not use the service anymore. Thi situation can lead to the bankrupt of the institution because people losing faith in using their services.

In conclusion, Although social media has help people to convey their thought publicly and help to minimise consequence and relieve the level of stress, using social media unwisely can lead to the loss of privacy and even the loss of income to the others. Therefore, it is necessary for people to use their social media wisely and avoid any possible disadvantages.
