Opinions vary as to whether values we learn from parents play a more important role in achieving success in the future than those we gain at school. I larglely agree with this view, since parents teach their children about morality and hard work which can be rather vital in the future.
Opponents of this view provide several justifications to support their position. They often argue that schools can encourage lessons about professional skills. Since at schools it is possible to gain new insights about the life at work and skiils needed there, students can develop greater understanding of adulthood, ultimately increasing chances of achieving success. Additionally, not all students have access to education. If schools supply children from disadvantaged backgrounds with proper education, they will be more likely to be taught equally as their peers, possibly developing more useful skills that can help later in life. This can be illustrated by the fact that shools can provide students with essential books about work-life and finances at no charge. Hence, students can gain valuable knowledge owing to schools.
Despite these claims, I side with those claiming that parents have a more considerable impact on children’s future. Given that parents can teach their children about moral values, such as honesty, kindness and perseverance, it plays a vital role in forming children’s right behaviour, which usually supports children in the future. What is more, due to parents, children can be more motivated and determined. Considering that parents lecture their children about possible hardships in the adult life and details in work-life, it can significatly foster building a stronger personality, resulting in better problem-solving skills which largely contributes to future succes. This can be exemplified by that many successful individuals in interviews often owe their achievment to their parent.
In conclusion, while there is a view that schools provide more crucial knowledge that parents do, I maintain that parents are more significant figures in building better future life of their children.
