Some people believe that the workweek should be shorter to allow for more weekends. However, in my opinion, five busy days out of seven are beneficial for becoming a more productive and hardworking individual, which is why I disagree with that statement. In this essay, I will clarify the reasons for my disagreement and discuss different perspectives on the workweek.
Firstly, if there are more days off from work, people may become lazy and unproductive. Weekends could dominate our daily lives, leading individuals to forget the importance of striving at work and maintaining a busy schedule during the week. Another reason is the impact this change would have on the workforce. Currently, most people work five days a week, with Saturday and Sunday as their days off. However, if weekends were extended, it could disrupt our daily routines. For instance, many shops might close more frequently, there could be a decrease in the number of available workers, and the demand for office staff would fluctuate. Consequently, average salaries could decrease, and our world would change dramatically.
On the other hand, some people argue that a shorter workweek would provide a better balance between work and leisure. This would allow us more time with our families, to socialize, and to engage in personal hobbies. While we can already do this during holidays or when we are not at the office, a more structured approach to work-life balance could enhance our overall quality of life.
In conclusion, I believe that working longer hours can lead to more fulfilling holidays. People should focus on engaging in more meaningful activities during their personal time to achieve positive outcomes from their hard work.
