Some individuals believe that workers should have shorter weekdays and longer weekends. In my view, I agree to this assertion because of its numerous benefits.
The issue of how long people should work within seven days is becoming a matter of pressing concern. To begin with, working for a shorter number of days while having a longer weekend prevents burnout; this is because workers would be able to utilize the longer weekends to obtain adequate rest from the stress of the professional environment. In addition, the level of productivity in these individuals will increase by a higher margin compared their counter parts who have a shorter weekend. For instance, a company in my town of residence advocated for a longer weekend, because it was noted that there was a decline in productivity of workers due to sudden illness; this bold move showed an increase in productivity in the next few months. This explains the importance of longer weekends on productivity and prevention of burnout.
Having longer weekends also increases the relationship in a family by allowing more time to be spent by workers with their spouses and children, thereby increasing the presence of a working parent in the lives of their children; it also fosters interpersonal relationship by allocating more time for bonding. Furthermore, longer weekends allow workers engage in other activities such as vacation and exercise; this improves their mental health and general wellbeing. For example, I only get to participate in yoga one day during the weekend, this is because of the limited time which is available, perhaps, if the weekend was longer; I would be involved in this activity more.
In conclusion, although some people would say working for shorter weekends while having a longer weekend would have a negatively impact in the society, I believe that longer weekends is more beneficial to an individual and society because it increased productivity and improves mental health
