There are contradictory opinions about whether all young adults are not compulsory to join volunteer basis. However, I am convinced that teenagers should join public unpaid activities because of several reasons.
It is no doubt that voluntary activities are time-consuming. Those work required young people to spend a certain amount of time finishing projects in the community. Meanwhile, most young people are under pressure with their studies without adding any responsibility out of study. Many schools have a tight schedule that obligates their students to stick. For example, a typical student often finishes assigned tasks, does exam preparation on top of attending lessons on a daily basis. It seems to be overwhelming to students who spend spare time doing unpaid work, resulting in diminishing academic outcomes.
On the other hand, I believe that voluntary activities can bring numerous benefits to society and individuals. From a personal level, the main gains of those activities might offer soft skills, especially communication skills. Getting exposed to people from different social backgrounds can provide more flexibility, and sensitive in response to obstacles. In other words, it’s like living in a small-scale replication of society where helps young adults get used to their reality life in the future. From a societal level, all unpaid work contributes to the development of a community. An ideal society is one where have responsible and kind-hearted people. Taking part in public projects at a very young age can help young adults be more sympathetic to each other and contribute a small effort to speed up the advancement of countries as a whole.
In summary, I suppose that teenagers should spend their spare time doing public activities because of many benefits. At first glance, it seems to consume time, but it will bring advantages in the long run.
