How would you describe modern teenagers? Probably you can say that they are rude and aggressive. Instead of studying they prefer to scroll their phone or go shopping. Nowadays there are a lot of stereotypes about adolescents, which sometimes are unfair, that is why I want to break them.
First of all, some people think that adolescents are always rude and aggressive, and do not respect and help people. Mostly their behavior depends on the way how they were raised, family values, and beliefs. In case parents teach children to be respectful and helpful to others, then children take into account these life rules. That is the reason why teenagers with supportive environments tend to have kindness and consideration.
Furthermore, a very popular stereotype is that girls like only shopping and fashion, and boys are keen to do sports and play computer games. However, numerous different types of hobbies are interesting and engaging for teenagers. Girls and boys can both learn art or science, do sports, or cook. Boys can also be passionate about fashion and how to look cool. Hobbies do not depend on the gender of adolescents, which is why this statement is unfair to both girls and boys.
In addition, it is common to think that teenagers are always gossiping about each other. Sometimes teenagers can discuss their friends’ lives, but not in a way to condemn or make fun of them. Every adolescent has their own life with problems and big plans. In most cases, they do not care about others.
To conclude, I want to notice that these stereotypes have a bad influence on self-esteem and freedom of choice. They can restrict teenagers in a hobby or profession choice. Parents need to support their children’s interests. Only this way you can bring up confident and cheerful people.
