Nowadays, there is a highly popular opinion that an extreme level of competitiveness is able to influence positively on the working and studying activities in every case. I am going to observe all the benefits and drawbacks of this controversial statement, providing relevant arguments and examples.
On the one hand, the need to compete with other people often motivates to improve professional and academic sides with extreme speed. Everyone wants to save his or her place in the university or to get an additional promotion on a job, showing the best abilities and skills. For example, the most prestigious academies support the application of rating system in a studying process to motivate students to demonstrate their best qualities, whereas the richest companies in consulting sphere are using the same ideas to find and highlight brilliant workers.
On the other hand, so intensive and aggressive environment simply does not suit for some types of peoples with different characters. There is no way to feel comfortable or to create friendly relations with your colleagues or university buddies when all of these people are the participants of one big competition. Furthermore, communication, supportive atmosphere and possibility to provide some projects with sustainable teams of workers or students are modern trends for every progressive structure. In this case extreme competitiveness is able to create additional problems.
To sum up, the influence of highly competitive environment depends on the type of personality. Some people feel themselves perfectly in such intensive conditions while others are not able to follow this temp. I tend to think that competitive atmosphere is a perspective practice but there is a need to regulate it carefully.
