It is believed by some that growing incidents of serious criminal activity should be hinder by announcing death penalty to the felon, while there are others who thinks that there are other different punishments to discourage crimes. In my opinion, I believe that though both the views have their own standpoint I believe that, the penalty should be announced on the terms of seriousness of crime and criminal’s intention during committing it.
On the one hand, it is often thought by many that criminal should be sentenced to death if they have committed a major crime. Due to that, it will set an example for others and have an sense of fear for the consequences that happen if they take laws in their hands. For instance, many Arab countries directly give death sentence to the person who has committed murder, rape or even theft. Hence, the crime rate seems to be very negligible in compare to other countries.
On the other hand, there are other ways by which, these increasing number of criminal activities can be put under control such as, life imprisonment and cash penalty. Moreover, this punishments are significantly proven to reduce crime rate at much extent. As for a person to spend whole life in jail and cutting off from whole world is torturous too. Many prisoners who are sentenced for this punishments have realized and developed a sense of guilt.
Finally, in my opinion, the judgement should be based on criminal’s motive and seriousness of crime. Some instance such as rape and murder should be penalized with death if the felon has clear bad motive. But, some crimes such as scam and robbery should be handled using other approach, as it is necessary to give a chance and have sense of seriousness towards their effect on society.
To conclude, death penalty is given if the person has ill motive but if crime has not affected to others than other approach should be used. Moreover, every crime should not be judged at the same level as it will be unfair to the person and set a wrong example in society.
