Band 6+: There should be laws to control the amount and type of violence shown on television programs. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some people believe, that government should make laws to restrict some TV programs that include violent content. However, I believe such action is unnecessary.

In this era, technology is advanced enough to help us avoid those types of objectionable TV programs. For instance, a remote control enables people to switch to other channels when boring content or content that makes people unhappy is aired. Additionally, many people use other platforms like Netflix, YouTube, etc. to watch films and programs. These platforms provide filters on their setting page, that allow users to choose the types of content they prefer. Additionally, users can adjust the setting to block violent films and programs, ensuring that platforms will filter out programs that have been blocked.

Programs variety should be allowed, because each kind of show has its own customers. We should respect people’s likes and dislikes and allow them to decide what they want to watch. For example, there are cartoons for children to support their mental development. Adults, on the other hand, who want to keep abreast of world trends and news would like to spend their time watching news programs. Teenagers like action movies that usually have violence within permissible limits.

In summary, I disapprove of using laws to TV viewing. So-called objectionable content represents a facet of life that we encounter in our day-to-day lives. To conclude, therefore, controlling or restricting viewing is not a solution.
