In recent years, children spending more time on smartphones and laptops than outdoor activities has become a widely debated issue. While some people believe that using electronic devices is beneficial for children’s learning and entertainment, others argue that children should spend more time on outdoor activities. I believe that children spend too much time on electronic devices. I completely agree with this view because it can harm their physical health and reduce their social interaction.
To begin with, one of the main reasons why I support this view is that excessive screen time can harm children’s physical health. This is mainly because children who spend many hours using electronic devices often get less physical exercise. For example, children who play games on their smartphones for several hours may not have enough time to play football or other outdoor games. As a result, they may gain weight and develop unhealthy habits. Therefore, it is clear that spending too much time on electronic devices can negatively affect children’s health.
Another important reason is that using electronic devices too much can reduce children’s social interaction. This is particularly important because children need to communicate and play with others to develop their social skills. For instance, when children play outdoor games with their friends, they learn teamwork and communication. Consequently, they can develop better relationships and become more confident. Thus, outdoor activities are important for children’s social development.
In conclusion, although there may be some arguments in favour of children using smartphones and laptops for learning and entertainment, I believe that children should spend less time on electronic devices and more time participating in outdoor activities. This is because excessive screen time can harm their physical health and reduce their social interaction. Therefore, parents should encourage children to balance screen time with regular outdoor activities.
