In contemporary times, a prvailing idea suggests that new technology is being used to control and monitor whatever people are doing such as callphones and security cameras and most of the people do not notice it. This essay will explore on the prfoits and the drawbacks of this circumstance. Additionally, I will articulate my own view by considering that positive and weak points of it.
There are several advantages of being monitored in some special cases. One of them is that it provides more safety in the community. The particular reason is that police officers use them to find , arrest and punish the criminals. For instance, in 1992 a terrible murder happened in England and the officers could find the criminal by utilizing bank cameras. Another good point is that by using some recorded voices and videos as evidence, the lawyers can prove that a person is innocent or guilty.
On the other hand there are a great number of cruel individuals who frame or sometimes threat others by sending them their recorded voices or videos. The reason is that cameras, phones, computers and…can easily be hacked. For example, one of my friends who was witnessed a murder was being framed by a man 2 years ago, thus he had to bring a piece of evidence that he was not the person who killed the boy in the captured video that the main killer used it against him. Furtheremore, governments frequently monitor people to find inform about people and their activities. This is how the goverments find the people who participated in protests.
To sum up, there are some profits of being manitored such as providing more safety and in order to verify a piece of evidence. However, there are still some bad points such as criminals’ usage and the way cruel governments utilize them. In my point of view, the advantages of being monitored is slightly more than its drawbacks.
