In modern society, people are more likely to replace old items with new ones instead of repairing them, while in the past damaged belongings were commonly fixed and reused. The main reason behind this phenomenon is the quality of items these days and one major consequence is financial problems.
One of the primary causes is a few decades ago and before things had better quality and were able to be used for a long time. In other words, if belongings cannot be easily broken, then it can be used for many years like elderly people did in the past. For example, phones such as NOKIA were higher-quality products in the 2000s and were difficult to break. Understandably, older generations were able to use this kind of phone for a long time rather than now because phones are slightly weaker in terms of quality. As a result, nowadays things like phones are used for no more than one or two years and cannot be repaired.
A possible effect of this issue may be financial problems because people spend a large amount of money to buy new things. These days, it is not easy to earn enough money for just living because of the high competitiveness at workplaces, however if people start to buy new things every year to replace old things, they will face financial insecurity. For instance, digital devices such as mobile phones and computers are expensive and by buying them every one or two years, this may have a negative impact on their financial situation. Accordingly, this issue must be solved because it has directly led to several negative consequences.
In conclusion, an individual’s financial stability may be at risk if they continue to throw away old things in order to buy new things because many modern products have poorer quality and are difficult or impossible to repair.
