In recent day, the number of students who can not find jobs after graduation, is growing day by day. This phenomenon originates from several reasons such as high level of competition among the unemployed and unqualified degree, which can be tackled by effective measures including gaining more experiences and being more hard-working in their study.
Increasing unemployment rate among young adults is attributed to various factors. One cause of this problem is the high level of competition among the unemployed. In fact, the number of jobs is finite, and there are a large number of candidates competing for the same position. However, in the recruitment conditions of many companies, there is generally a requirement that students have previous working experience. As a result, many new graduates have difficulty finding jobs immediately due to lack of experience. In addition, with the advancement of technology today, a large number of machines or robots are produced and replaced by employees to increase efficiency at work because they are able to work overtime. Another cause worth noting is unqualified degree. Many students when coming to class, just hold their smartphones and stare at it throughout the learning process, they do not concentrate on absorbing the knowledge and methods that the lecturer intends to convey. This can lead to the poor of students’ overall academic results, and it results in their graduate degrees being below good while the needs of companies is that degrees must be from distinction or higher.
There are several solutions to help tackle this problem. First, students need to gain more experiences by doing more part-time jobs, or participating in more academic competitions. Because there, students can meet more talented people and have the opportunity to get lots of experience from real-life situations, and it contributes to making students’ CV match employer requirements. Moreover, students will improve soft skills, for example, meeting many people will force students to talk to be able to connect with people and build relationships, thereby refining communication skill, which is an essential skill when going to work. Second, being more hard-working in their study. When coming to class, students have to put all their energy into the lecture, certainly focus on what the lecturers convey and absolutely may not use phone or laptop unless the teacher asks them to. The result is having good academic performance and their qualifications will have higher rank and attract potential employers.
