Food and environment go hand in hand as neither of them cannot survive without each other. Nowadays, global warming is rising due to various factors and transportation of food to longer distances is one of them. However, people have started to understand the advantages of consuming foods produced by local farms due to various advantages. First of all, the transportation time and distance would be limited as fields are located in closer vicinity. In addition, this less would not only help boost economy of the nation but will also result in fewer carbon emissions. Though, the transferring will not completely eliminate but there will be reduction in the pollution levels. The pollution also causes adverse effects on everyone’s well-being and can cause various health complications in the long run.

On the other hand, many citizens feel that there are certain disadvantages when choosing regionally grown food. They feel that though they are on the same terms to save the natural habitat but are interested in trying exotic vegetables and fruits grown in different locations, sometime in other continents. For example, vegetable like avocado which is high in good fats are grown in middle-east countries like Iraq.

To conclude, choosing provincially originated crops can be beneficial to the economy as it helps to generate income for residents. Also, there will be less impact on the living conditions as less fuel would be consumed due to shorter distances. Consequently, the merits seems to be heavier than the demerits.
