In contemporary society, there is a noticeable lack of awareness among individuals regarding the significance of the natural world, including forests, lakes, and mountains. In my viewpoint, this trend can be attributed to a primary factor, along with various potential solutions.
On the one hand, individuals are predominantly preoccupied with their professional commitments and familial responsibilities, thereby limiting their exposure to information concerning the importance of the natural environment. For instance, the rampant instances of deforestation and forest fires globally have resulted in the loss of habitats for animals and their sources of sustenance. While some individuals may witness these events on television, their focus remains primarily on their work and daily obligations, neglecting the welfare of wildlife. Consequently, iconic species like pandas and dinosaurs are facing extinction, and vast tracts of forests are being cleared to make way for commercial outlets and infrastructure.
Furthermore, governmental bodies ought to enforce stringent penalties on individuals engaging in activities such as hunting and illegal tree felling within their jurisdictions. For example, the authorities in the United States have imposed hefty fines ranging from 1000 to 2000 dollars on offenders involved in hunting and deforestation. This has led to a notable decline in the percentage of individuals participating in these harmful practices, plummeting from 70% to 10% between 1990 and 2023.
In conclusion, it is imperative for both individuals and governments to allocate significant time and effort towards gaining a deeper understanding of the natural world and taking proactive measures to safeguard the well-being of animals and forests. By implementing strict laws and enforcing strict punishments, law enforcement agencies can effectively deter individuals from engaging in activities that contribute to deforestation and harm to wildlife.
