Waste generated are increasing everyday no matter how much we acknowledges it. It is more prevalent momentarily as we are very much rely on the single use plastic, which in turn generated much of the rubbish. This essay will clearly explains why this is happening and what are all the measures the government can undertake in order to reduce the amount of waste produced.
Firstly, it becomes so common to use the packaging materials in modern days. So, once the product is used, the packaging material much get into the garbage. For instance, in the modern world, we often have some processed food, hotel dishes which is packed in the thin plastic papers. After the consumption of the food, the plastic cover will be get into trash bin. Secondly, the most serious e-waste, which is excluded from their living area because of the out of fashioned and out of date electronic products. Electronic waste has severe impacts on the environment, as it takes many years to get degrade in the soil. To exemplify this, in my home, I bought a new mobile last week, the old mobile is considered to be a e-waste now, that has to be properly disposed, so I exchanged my old phone in the nearby shop.
Furthermore, it is the government’s duty to take necessary measures to tackle the rubbish which is overgenerated. Consequently, our state government has passed the law regarding the ban on SUP which is abbreviated as Single Use Plastic on 2023. Meanwhile, the union government has passed the regulations that intends to use the Aluminium foil for packing of the beverages, snacks, food instead of plastic cover. To exemplify, The Tamil Nadu Government introduced the scheme called Manjjappai [Yellow bag] scheme which motivates the citizens to use yellow cloth bag to carry anything which is purchased from the shop and ask to shopkeepers to provide the cloth bag along with the items purchased for just one rupee. Moreover, it always intends the public on 3R [Reduce, Recycle, Reuse] stragety to reuse the garbage generated.
In a nutshell, no matter how the government strive hard to balance the rubbish produced and environmental conservation, it must be duty of the citizens to undertake the duty to protect their ecosystem by eco-friendly measures.
