In the contemporary area, talks about advertising, which provides an avalanche of information about a product and service but also makes a huge impact on customers. In my opinion, albeit not without issues to tackle, presents both merits and demerits to those adopting it.
First of all, proponents of this approach can cite many reasons to support their view. The most noteworthy upside is the increase in product and brand awareness. The advertising releases a campaign to showcases how their products differ from the other side’s output. Moreover, the firm can offer a sort of limited offers and discounts to promote and drive conversions. Take the “Share of Coke” campaign for example, which was launched by Cocacola in 2013 and was a global phenomenon at that time by printing people’s names on their bottles. Cocacola was using innovation to stay ahead of the curve again. At the same time, the advertisement was successful and escorted the brand to move toward the consumers thanks to the intensive of media coverage. Another improvement could be found in the attraction of current and potential customers. By informing the audiences through social networks, there was a rise in considerations and conversions. This is particularly true for the business which promoting a new store opening through advertisement or publicizing the locations openly thanks to social media such as Instagram or Linkedin, leads to a growth of profits and expansion of networks.
However, advertisement is ingrained into our culture these days, raising concerns about its persuasive nature. One of the most obvious disadvantages of advertisements is that advertisements can be challenging for small businesses. Because of the deficiency of budgets and resources, small firms discovered a hard time in setting a foothold in the competing market. Especially, the large firms were the ones who manipulated the entire market with their influence, consequently, it might take a challenging period for the smaller firms to regain their positions. Another drawback of advertising is that advertisements may cause general disturbance from the consumers by repeating over and over again the advertisements contain an avalanche of irritating information. As a result, this leads to abomination toward the brands, which affects hardly the brand’s reputation.
Evaluating the pros and cons of the phenomenal requires consideration of the particular individuals. For example, some might be overwhelmed by the frequency of appearance of the products and could not be resistant to their continuity and appeal, while others remain unimpressed by the affected advertisements. However, in my opinion, advertising is an inconvertible form of updating, which provokes us to buy counterfeit goods from other untrusted businesses. Overall, the impact that advertisements have brought to the community is undeniable and cannot be overstated.
