Band 6+: Today, the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.To what extant do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the contemporary period, advertising plays a significant factor to popularize consumerism that drives to a tremendous sale of products. It is contemplated that the brand promotion plays the prominent role here predominantly rather than people’s actual demands exist in the society. After a careful consideration, I would like to concur with the given statement.

At the first glance, advertising seeks to allure people with captivating discourses on television. For instance, the companies could get a massive profit if they feature a plethora of offers which are tempting. In addition, in terms of indulging consumers, the companies shape false demand through advertisements on television channels. For instance, it could be ridiculous if purchasing an iPhone is considered a basic requirement of human beings; however, the capitalists have made it a mandatory essential if you want to be a part of a high-class society.

Furthermore, because of excessive branding, people seek to consume such luxurious items that motivate them to satisfy their indulgence. For illustration, in 2022, a Bangladeshi eatery vended an ice-cream which was made of gold. Similarly, there are materials that are produced for those people who belong to a particular age category, such as adult drinks. However, the beverage producers extravagantly cajole the customers that stimulate all kinds of people to check the taste of that drinking object. Consequently, the businesspersons are benefited through this marketing strategy. For instance, during the FIFA World Cup competition, many wine brands demonstrated the advantages of engulfing ourselves through the consumption of wines.

Hence, by the way of conclusion, it can be restated that the enhancement of sales of prominent materials actually represents the mastery of advertising, not the actual needs of the communities.
