The power of advertising is becoming clear nowadays. Products that are less relevant are being sold due to popularity and trends in society. Popular consumption is becoming an issue, as people are spending money on things considered luxury as a result of popularity and peer pressure. Meanwhile, it is important to buy products to help a person ease work; it should be considered how useful and necessary it could be. For example, a consumer might see a new and improved version of an oven with additional features being advertised on TV. They might have the urge to buy the product immediately. Still, it is necessary to ask ourselves if we really need it. We buy things we do not need to keep up with our friends and society: the new flashy car, the trendy phone, fancy clothes—all of these being advertised create pressure on us, but in reality, we are buying products considered luxury.
Conversely, there are products that are handy which help us and create a positive impact on our lives, making our lives easier and simpler. These products are basic and can be bought at a reasonable price, like stoves, phones, washing machines, and the like. In contrast, there are products with extremely high prices that provide the same service but are unnecessary and should be avoided.
In conclusion, we should be aware of our spending habits and consider and ask ourselves if we really need it before we go on a shopping spree. We have to set restrictions on ourselves not to buy more than necessary.
