In the past century, the environment has suffered a lot of changes. One of the most pressing issues is global warming. This essay discusses the causes of the issue and its remedies.
To begin with, the most important cause of global warming is the greenhouse effect. According to statistics, the annual carbon dioxide emission into the atmosphere has continued to grow rapidly. Humans use many fuels and fossils, and these all lead to the production of gases, hence rising global temperatures. Also, the greatest increase in the population leads to a significant decline in natural resources. To tackle this concern, governments and individuals should limit energy consumption by decreasing the number of flights and using public transport to reduce operating cars. Eco-friendly transportation like Bicycles should be used, and the number of private vehicles should be diminished. This has been done in developed countries, e.g., Canada, and needs to be adopted by other developing countries, such as Russia.
Deforestation is another major threat to our planet. Trees give us oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, thereby reducing the greenhouse effect. Nevertheless, more and more trees are cut down to build new localities or cities for people. For example, in Moscow, many trees were felled, and skyscrapers were built in their place. The obvious solution to this problem is to establish green areas in cities. For instance, as it has been successfully implemented in Singapore during these three decades, the country has taken one of the first places among the greenest places in the world.
In conclusion, global warming affects our lives in diverse and dangerous ways. If steps such as forestation and refusal of excessive use of combustible substances are not promptly taken to ensure that things do not get out of hand, it may eventually become impossible to live on this planet.
