Band 5+: Today's school should teach their children how to survive financially. What to extend do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It’s often argued that financial education should be a part of the school program. While some people believe that schools should focus only on academic subjects, I strongly agree that educating children how to manage money and survive financially is essential preparing them for real life challenges.

It’s clear that today everything depends on money from the basic needs to the technology we use habitually. There even are some schools or learning centers which are taught their students for cost. They teach them academic subjects, such as math, physics, geography and so on but none of them has education programs or even a syllabus at schools to teach their children how to maintain financial stability. The main reason reason is that they only pay attention to academic papers. However, I don’t think these are enough for our young generation. I think government should increase the awareness of managing financial stability and our economical knowledge from the early age. For instance, the government is supposed to bring new school subjects, such as ” psychology of money” , focusing to be good money saver or ” time is money”, including the value of money and time. By doing so they may be financial independent earlier and a good saver. Because saving money is important for economical situations in a country, Additionally, there will open new job opportunities for those who are looking for in economical fields.

On the other hand we have to be cautious when it’s about money or survive in finance. Because introducing money psychology for children at schools may cause some bad habits, like being materialistic or money-minded. What’s more there is a risk that children might become overly focused on making money rather than pursuing meaningful goals. I think there is a good solution for this. To address this issue, we have to look for valuable people in their lives, especially their parents. Schools should organize face-to-face meetings with parents to explain the goals of teaching non-academic subjects based on surviving financially. Because family plays a crucial role in shaping children’s upbringing for good. Plus the government should support schools in this way.

In conclusion, teaching students how to survive financially is a vital life skill that schools don’t focus on today. That’s why schools should teach them how to manage money.
