Traffic jams have been one of the most pressing concern amongst large cities globally. This has caused more time wasted by commuters and worsens air pollution of the area. To address this, government should advocate for road expansion as well as better strategic development of public transport.
The gridlock of vehicles, especially during peak rush hours, has forced many commuters to waste a significant amount of time on road.
Consequently, individuals experience stress due to anxiety of missing the deadlines, which ultimately reduces their quality of life. Furthermore, air pollution is another critical concern exacerbated by traffic congestion. As vehicles crowd into an area and idle for prolonged periods, toxic gases such as carbon dioxide from vehicles are released continuously into the atmosphere. This results in poor air quality in the area and severe respiratory problems for those who live near by.
In response to these problems, authorities should improve the transport infrastructure by widening existing roads. This will allow for higher volume of vehicles to travels smoothly through a road at a time, resolving the heavy bottleneck caused by narrow pathways. Another solution is the upgrading of public transport system. By providing more reliable and accessible mode of transport, cities can reduce number of private drivers on the road, thereby improving flow of traffic. For example, train stations could be built at regions further away from central cities in order for workers who live there to not need to drive through highway to enter city everyday.
In conclusion, traffic jam is a major cause of air pollution, declining public health as well as unproductive time that affects people well-being. It is suggested that road expansion and positive development of public transport are necessary implementation to provide better mode of transportation and enhance vehicle flow.
