It is very common these days to go outside and spend hours on the road in big cities because of traffic congestion. Traffic congestion is becoming a serious issue that has several reasons for it; however, there are solutions for every problem, including traffic congestion.
One main reason for traffic congestion is the high vehicle demand. Almost everyone owns a car, whether they come from wealthy families or not. Nowadays, buying a car when you become an adult is essential. Many people rely on cars to get everywhere as they are faster and more convenient. Another reason why people prefer to buy cars is poor public transit. If buses and trains are too slow or do not go everywhere, people choose to drive cars instead. In addition, daily peak commuting hours contribute to a lot of traffic. Travel bunches up at the exact same times in the morning and evening. Even all companies start their work hours at almost the exact same time in the morning, which contributes to traffic congestion in the morning hours.
Traffic congestion raises the chances of accidents and breakdowns, so there must be solutions. One solution to fix this problem is to encourage business owners to include flexible working hours. This will reduce some of the traffic congestion on the road in the morning hours, because people won’t all have the exact same time to start their work. Improving public transport will motivate people to rely on it more. Governments can improve it by including public buses and trains that can drive people almost everywhere. In addition, the population is rapidly increasing in urban areas and most of the roads are narrow; improving and making new layouts for some of the narrow roads to make them larger will be useful.
In conclusion, traffic congestion is a common issue in almost every big city. However, every problem has solutions if the right choices are made.
