In today’s modern world, it is not uncommon to see people devote more time and energy to achieving their goals than others. This can be attributed to several factors, such as personal ambition and competition, and I personally believe that this is mostly a postive habit.
One of the main reasons for people to put in much more effort is definitely personal ambition. This is because, some people are naturally goal oriented and ambitious so that they are more willing to put in extra effort and do their utmost in order to achieve their dreams and ambitions. For example, a student who wants to enroll in one of the most prestigious universities in the world have to study, do research and participate in several extracurricular activities which ordinary students do not do on a daily basis. Another main reason is the high level of competition. In today’s modern job market, there are lots of people who are educated, skilled and equipped with different sort of skills such as communication and computer skills so that workers who are disciplined, work hard and are more willing to learn something are more likely to win in the competition and they are highly valued by the employers. Thus, people who have specific purposes in life or in terms of job feel responsibility to work much harder than others.
Even though this habit can lead to several problems, I personally believe that it is mostly positive habit. One main reason why it is useful for people is that it always encourages people to work on themselves, be busy with something useful and discover something new that they have never experienced before. As a result, they spend their time for doing something important and productive which can be really useful in their future life. However, overworking is not useful all the time because a person who studies and works more than enough may feel exhausted and develop a number of health problems due to a lack of sleep and rest.
In conclusion, people tend to work harder than others mainly because of personal ambition and the desire to succeed in a competitive environment. Although excessive work can have negative consequences, I believe that being hardworking is largely a positive habit because it enables individuals to achieve their goals and improve their future prospects.
