Nowadays, educational institutions ought to equally fund sports’ programs and libraries. I agree with a university allocating the same amount of money to student sports activities as it allocates to the library, as it is very effective in stimulating community among students and promoting the university.
Firstly, there is no doubt that sports are an effective way to communicate with other students through physical activity. This is because sports always involve opponents and teammates, and actively communicating with them leads to victory. In addition, I it is believed that belonging to a community of several people as a club activity can enrich college life. Although it would be time-consuming to manage the sports community within the university, the community could be effectively operated by establishing rules and having the university have jurisdiction over it. Therefore, it is necessary to spend a budget for sports activities.
In addition, sports activities are a very effective means of promoting the university. This is because when a university sports club participates in a major tournament or achieves outstanding results, it attracts public attention. This will cause many people to become aware of the university, and some students will apply to the university to support its intramural sports activities. In Japan, intramural marathon activities are very well known. The intercollegiate marathon races held at New Years are broadcasted all over Japan, and many people look forward to watching the races. It is a fact that each university invests a large amount of budget in their university marathon clubs, as participation in this event can be expected to generate much higher publicity than normal advertising.
