The same proportion of male and female students in every specialty should be admitted by universities. From my perspective, I disagree with the idea since the main factor determining who studies what should be their physical and mental capabilities and individuals’ interests, and career goals instead of their gender.
The first reason why I do not support the idea is that the capability of every person in every field varies depending on their autonomy. In fields demanding physical resistance and more time such as engineering, many jobs in the military services are preferable to men because men have the proper physical abilities to tackle difficulties in these fields. Women usually tend to do jobs related to teaching, and caring for people due to traditionally and biologically gained skills. Therefore, accepting students on a compulsory basis can result in serious deficits such as unskilled employees in workplaces.
Secondly, why I am not in favor of the idea because every human being has a distinguished way of living and the right to draw their destiny. If the number of men and women students was regulated based on equal proportions many individuals would be deprived of education, which could lead to emotional degradations on them. As a consequence of people being out of studying in desired fields triggered by the regulations supporting the same number of women and men at faculties at universities, there could be an increase in mental deterioration among members of society.
To recapitulate, I disagree with the statements as all people need to gain professions in which they have proper abilities to learn, and study considering their desires.
