Nowadays a plethora of students move to foreign countries to pursue their education. Although studying overseas involves cultural and language barriers, it paves the way for better prospects later on in students’ lives. In my opinion, studying overseas has far more benefits than the challenges tertiary students have to face.
Studying abroad offers better career prospects for students studying in a foreign country. It will lead to increasingly better future opportunities that will prove beneficial in their careers leading to better quality of life. For instance, completing a degree in software engineering from overseas offers a competitive salary and professional growth in the students’ lives. Acquiring education from a foreign country will benefit the individuals in the long run.
One of the main challenges that students encounter is obstacles to cultural and language differences. It is extremely challenging to be able to communicate with people speaking different accents of their language as well as to adapt to the local culture abroad. To illustrate, when Arabs move to European countries, they face great difficulty in understanding people’s languages and getting used to local people’s culture and traditions. People find it difficult to overcome cultural and linguistic barriers while abroad.
To conclude, there has been a significant increase in the number of students continuing their higher studies overseas. While it comes with many drawbacks of cultural and language barriers that students face, it provides the advantage of a promising career with far-reaching implications for an individual’s life ahead. The benefits the students face studying abroad prove far more fruitful than the challenges one has to endure in a foreign country.
