Where there are people, there is pollution. Especially in cities there are many causes of pollution but there are ways to diminish them. In the essay I will discuss the main causes of urban pollution and propose some solutions.
It can be argued that there are two main causes of pollution in urban areas. First of all, the exhaust fumes of traffic are the most significant source of pollution. This is because, more and more people are able to afford a car, so the city’s streets are flooded with vehicles. Besides this, many household burn their garbage instead of having it collected by garbage trucks. As most of the garbage is made of plastic, this causes a lot of air pollution.
Fortunately there are some solutions to the issues mentioned above. To address the problem of exhaust fumes, people should be encouraged to buy Electronic Vehicles (EVs). These vehicles don’t burn any gasoline and don’t produce any damaging exhaust fumes. To deal with households burning trash, local governments should simply enforce existing laws. It is already illegal to burn trash, so enforcing this law will solve the problem.
In conclusion, there are numerous factors that cause pollution in urban areas but the main ones are exhaust fumes from traffic and the burning of garbage by households. In my opinion these problems could be solved if more people would invest in EVs and local authorities would enforce excising laws regarding trash collection. I myself, for example, drive a hybrid Porsche Taycan and pay my monthly fees for garbage collection by a private company.
