Over the past 50 years, violence among young people has become a serious problem. At the same time, violent films, video games and other types of media have become more common. Some people believe that violent media is the main reason why young people become violent. I partly disagree with this opinion because media can influence young people, but other factors such as family, friends and social environment also play an important role.
One reason why violent media can affect young people is that they see violence very often in films, games and on social media. If they watch violent content for a long time, they may start to think that violence is normal. For example, some video games give points or rewards for fighting and killing other characters. This can make some young people more aggressive, although it does not mean that everyone who plays violent games will become violent.
However, I think that family and friends can have a bigger influence on young people. Children who grow up in families where people often argue or use violence may copy this behaviour. Also, young people can be influenced by their friends. If their friends fight, behave aggressively or encourage bad behaviour, they may feel pressure to do the same. The area where they live and the people around them can also affect their behaviour.
In conclusion, violent media can be one reason why some young people become aggressive, but it is not the main reason in every case. Family, friends and the social environment can also have a strong influence on young people’s behaviour.
