Band 9: Water pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues in many parts of the world. Why is water pollution a growing concern for both individuals and governments? What measures can be taken to reduce the problem effectively?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

One of the most essential needs for human beings is water, and the advent of urbanization and industrialization has led to an increase in impure water availability around the globe. In this essay, we will discuss in detail how water contamination is a critical concern for both citizens and government authorities. Additionally, we will explore policies that can be adopted to address this issue.

Water is vital for every individual; for instance, people rely on it for daily activities such as drinking, cleaning, washing, and gardening. Furthermore, authorities use water for various industries and to distribute it to the entire population. Pollution can lead to numerous waterborne diseases, including dysentery, typhoid, and other infections. Consequently, governing bodies are tasked with the responsibility of providing safe drinking water to the public, which adds to their burden.

While pollution is a major issue worldwide, there are measures that can mitigate its effects, and with united efforts, we can gradually eradicate it. Major contributors to water pollution are industrial facilities. If these industries treat toxins responsibly and remove all harmful chemicals before disposal, it would be safe to release their effluents into rivers or oceans without compromising the original quality of the water.

Secondly, untreated or inadequately treated sewage from households and urban areas is a significant source of pathogens. If the general public collectively refrains from dumping waste directly into water bodies, it would greatly help in preventing contamination. Moreover, governments can enhance efforts to treat wastewater through water treatment plants.

In conclusion, when water becomes polluted, governing bodies face challenges associated with cleaning it, while citizens may suffer from health issues. However, potential solutions to reduce this problem include ensuring that toxins are safely treated before release and addressing the treatment of contaminated water sources.
