Positive And Negative

Band 7+: We are surrounded by all kinds of advertising, which significantly influence our lives. Do the positive effects of advertising outweigh its negative effects?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, advertising is everywhere. People can see it on TV, on the Internet, on social media and even on the streets. Some people think advertising has many bad effects, while others believe it is useful. In my opinion, the positive effects are stronger than the negative ones.

On the one hand, advertising has some disadvantages. First of all, it encourages people to buy things they do not really need. Many advertisements make products look much better than they actually are. Because of this, people sometimes waste their money. Another problem is that children are easily influenced by advertisements. They often ask their parents to buy expensive toys, snacks or clothes after watching commercials. This can create problems for some families.

On the other hand, advertising also has many benefits. One advantage is that it gives people information about new products and services. Customers can compare different brands and choose the one they like. Advertising is also important for companies because it helps them sell more products and become more successful. As a result, businesses can earn more money and provide more jobs. In addition, advertising is not always about selling products. Governments and charities also use advertisements to tell people about health, road safety and environmental problems. These campaigns can help people make better decisions.

In conclusion, advertising has both positive and negative effects. Although it can make people spend too much money, I believe its advantages are more important. It helps businesses grow, informs customers and spreads useful messages to society.
