Online classes are becoming more and more popular thanks to the advanced technology. It is, however, debatable if this way of educating is advantageous or not. In this essay, I will discuss both good sides and bad sides of Internet-based courses and express my own opinion.
On the one hand, online courses can bring learners great advantages. To begin with, online courses allow people to flexibly arrange the lesson’s time according to their schedule. In that way, the study assignment will be finished no matter what unexpected events happened during the semester. Internet-based classes are indeed less pricier than traditional ones since learners do not have to pay for all the extra costs of housing rent, water, and electricity bills. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many schools continued teaching through online meeting apps and decreased the study fee because the Internet is freely accessible.
On the other hand, Internet-based courses also bring out serious drawbacks. Online courses often do not involve the core part of learning. Studying online means little interaction between learners and teachers. This might lead to a lack of mutual understanding between students and tutors, which can lower the academic results. Additionally, looking at the screen and sitting on a chair for too long can cause health problems such as eyestrain, headaches, and backaches. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, studying online influenced study grades negatively and contributed to the increasing rate of short-sighted children.
In conclusion, online classes can be both advantageous by providing convenience, cheap fees and bills, and disadvantageous by reducing the productivity of learning and causing health problems. To my thinking, studying online is ultimately convenient in today’s modern world and its benefits far outweigh its drawbacks.
