The 21st century has witnessed increasing advancement in many parts of our life, and it also includes the mass media. However, everything comes at a price. While the mass media brings convenience to everyday life, teenagers are being negatively affected. There is too much that is harmful to young people. It is interesting in this article to examine some of the main problems from mass media and suggest some possible solutions.
To start with, one of the most important problems is that the mass media has become the main reason for young people’s health issues. Studies have shown that the number of teenagers who have glasses takes half of a class because of spending too much time on the internet. Another problem worth mentioning is that young people could be addicted to devices which can lead to a decrease in their scores and school. To be more specific, the one who controlled the limit of time using a smartphone by parents could have a higher rank than the one who used the phone unlimitedly.
To address the root of this issue, strict measures should be taken to minimize the harmful effects of the media. Stricter rules should be implemented to control the access of teenagers on websites, to avoid being seen information that is not suitable for their age. More lessons about raising awareness of the harmful effects of the internet should be added to let the young know how to use it correctly.
All things considered, it can be concluded that a better internet environment for adolescents will appear in the future.
