Politics is one of the few spheres of interest that receives so much attention globally. It has become a highly debatable topic like never before, causing much distress and unpleasant incidents even among those whose lifestyles have very little to do with the aforementioned notion, including myself.
I would like to express my views on JD Vance’s speech at the Munich Security Conference, which was held on February 14, 2025. While it is abundantly clear to me that the U.S. government plays a major role in global politics, pursuing its own agenda regarding resources and the economy, I find myself rather confused about the true objective of his call to reprimand Europe and his own country for retaining the true democratic ideology that has been the bedrock of the Western world.
On the one hand, it appears to me that JD Vance is attempting to send a fresh message to the world: that Russia is not a real threat and that they are trying to come to a ‘reasonable settlement.’ This represents a significant shift in comparison to the previous administration, which demonized Russian ruling strategies, labeling them as ‘dictatorship’ and ‘tyranny.’ The focus is clearly shifting; Europe and the previous Biden campaign have been accused of hypocrisy for failing to fulfill essential democratic policies such as elections and freedom of speech. On the other hand, given the historical background of the U.S., which has involved multinational political infiltration over the last few decades, I find it hard to believe that their true goal is to ‘settle’ the world in peace. Therefore, it remains unclear to me what the new stance of the U.S. government is, despite its seemingly positive mood.
Nevertheless, I am full of anticipation, and I wholeheartedly hope that better times are ahead of us and that peace can finally be restored in our realm. Needless to say, these times have been uneasy, and it is hard to plan for the future and take any daring steps toward progress while living in fear of war.
