Band 5+: Why people do not ride bicycles and what to do to encourage them

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Bicycles usage as a form of trasnportation is becoming less common. Today People prefer to use cars or maybe other means of public transportation, and the main reason is that riding a bicycle requires you to be in a good shape and to have a good amount of energy to help you to go to work for example. Moreover, people have tendency to choose easy and fast means rather than something that needs effort. With gas prices going up, it would be a good idea to convince people to use bicycles in order to save money or maybe the government can make specialized bicycles’ lanes to encourage the public even more.

It always has been known that when it comes to choosing between something easy and something that requires a little bit of effort, we as humans would definitely choose the first option. Bicycles are not suitable for everyone because it requires the one to have a sufficient skills to proceed with it. With fast food becoming everywhere and sports drinks that are full of sugar, many people do not have an athletic body and bicycles need someone with a proper weight to make it balanced. That is why bicycles are suitable for kids and young adults who workout and can maintain an appropriate body weight. On the other hand, for older people things could be harder, mainly because when we age our bodies start to slow down and the ability to move quickly slows as well.

A good method to change that would start with the government. They have the power to inspire people to use bicycles, which means less traffic gams and clean environment. Lanes dedicated to bicycles is a priority here, as these lanes are going to separate between cars, buses and bicycles. This would help to ensure the safety of bicycle users. Another important method would be to convince people that having a bicycle is 10 times cheaper than having a car. Insurance, gas, and other maintenance costs make cars expensive option and not everyone can afford a car. On the contrary, bicycles are affordable and can be easily purchased. So switching from cars to bicycles is a better option nowadays.

In conclusion, The super easy life that exists now is the reason why using bicycle is inconvenient to some. But with a good government support, we can help and orient people to use bicycles more and more.

The increasing demand for oil and gas has made it necessary to look for these energy sources in remote and untouched natural places. Do you think the advantages of locating oil and gas in these areas outweigh the disadvantages of damaging these places?

With an unprecedented increase in demand for oil and gas, seeking energy sources in far-away and intact places seems essential. I believe the negatives of disrupting these places far outweigh the positives of drilling for oil and gas there. Locating oil and gas in undisturbed land can bring some benefits to the country. Untouched places […]

Today, many people do not know their neighbors in large cities. What problems does this cause? What can be done about this? Write at least 250 words.

It is increasingly common in large urban areas for neighbors to interact less. In my opinion, this results in a declining sense of community and the solutions must be individually motivated. In most cities today, the lack of connection between neighbors has caused less culturally unique neighborhoods. An illustrative counter-example to this would be famous […]
