Firstly, the prime advantage of connecting via online platforms, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom, is reduced travelling effort that conserves huge amount of valuable time of an employee. In addition to that, the preservation of natural resources like the petroleum or diesel required for transportation, also minimizing the pollution caused by these vehicles. Furthermore, with reduced needs for commutation to offices, roads are clearer with little to no congestion due to traffic. Also, the enterprise owners are benefiting from this arrangement significantly, as cost to company is dropped to half.
On the other hand, while we are enjoying this set-up, growth of individual gets hampered as there is extremely less exposure leading to impacted learning for freshers in the field. Another drawback to it is wastage of hours while trying to connect with people online waiting for them to be available, resulting in poor coordination among the team members that ultimately affects the performance.
In conclusion, flexible working environment has successfully eased lives of employees by aiding them with comfort, in turn providing mental and physical wellness. But taking away interpersonal skills raised from in-person communication.
