Nowadays, there is a serious conflict between the growth of modern society and the decline of traditional values. However, culture is our root, culture is the soul of a nation. Thus, tradition must be preserved and promoted by each of us.
First and foremost, traditional values are a vast repository of knowledge. As traditional lessons deepen our understanding of our heritage, motivating us to preserve our cultural values. Furthermore, traditions guide us on the path of humanity, imparting the moral compass of our forefathers through literature and art, such as proverbs, poetry. For instance, Vietnamese people have learnt about patriotism, gratitude, and diligence… Despite the challenges from current society and the developments of science and technology, tradition still retains its values.
To create a better future, we must strike a balance between these traditional values and the benefits of technology. Initially, we can create a fusion of cải lương, quan họ, and modern music. Hoàng Dũng was a trailblazer in this genre, having collaborated with the renowned cải lương artist Bạch Tuyết. On the other hand, many artists like Phương Mỹ Chi and Hoàng Thùy Linh have innovated by blending traditional elements such as Mother worship, Tứ phủ beliefs, and Đông Hồ paintings into their music. Although it’s difficult to fully realize the potential of traditional values in today’s world, we can significantly enhance their visibility by subtly integrating them into our daily lives, for example, through advertising, branding, and product design.
As a result, the rapid pace of technological advancement in today’s world has brought forth numerous challenges. Yet, the enduring value of our traditions offers us a guiding light. By skillfully blending these traditional values with technological progress, we can pave the way for a more fulfilling life.
