There is a view that technological mechanization and AI advancements may cause work displacement. Personally, while I acknowledge the significance of unemployment risks, I believe that AI can create more job opportunities.
Since technological advancements have been disseminated worldwide, there is a concern for unemployed people to face some job losses. Job automation may cause job displacement due to its professional functions. This digital transformation can work around the clock and fast in decision-making, resulting in boosted production and the manafucturing process on a global scale. So, unskilled workers face problems with getting jobs and maintaining financial stability. If these people are not working in any automatic jobs, which may be their main occupation, they might face money instability to pay their expenses, including but not limited to transportation, food, service payments, and taxes. Moreover, People are highly likely to be sick because of stress after job losses, which results in weakened both mental and physical health. Thus, mechanization of jobs should not be translated into reality.
Notwithstanding this argument, AI can boost employment rates by enacting new job vacancies for people, meaning AI systems need to people develop its functions. In this job, people fix bugs and create algorithms. Some youngsters want to apply for this major for their university after graduating. Recent, research conducted by FORBES, shows that nearly 50% of young people choose their intended major regarding on AI jobs. Young people can earn more money than other job and it is promising field. Digital literacy, of course, one of the most crucial skills of today’s era since technological advancements increasing and will continue to flourish, making itself ubiquitous.
In conclusion, despite the drawbacks of automation according to occupation losses, I think that AI in job areas can be advantageous mainly because this initiative extends the level of employment.
