Traditional healthcare and personalized medicine is one of the popular disscusion topic nowadays. Due to the increase of individualized medicine based on personal genetic profiles, some believe that traditional medical care systems that focus on standardized treatments will become irrelevant, whereas others think that custom medicine is very expensive and complicated for widespread implementation and that traditional methods will still be relevant. And, this essay is going to talk about both views and give my opinion on it.
Traditional healthcare has been passed down from generation-to-generation, and is still being used in majority of countries. This practice has been used for centuries to cure illness or be healthy, and still being used. This is due to the fact that, it not only use natural herbs as its ingredient, but also they are base on generation knowledge, skill and practice that ancient people develoved such methods. Since, it uses natural ingredients as it source which are very easy to find making them relatively cheap. Additionally, if one has knowledge on how to make it, they can just produce it in their house at almost free of cost. This might be one of the reasons people still use them nowadays, and not only that this type of medicine is really effective, also acknowledged by WHO for all to have traditional healthcare as primary medicine. Moreover, tailored therapy is something that takes alot of expenses that not everyone can afford, so people has to stick to folk healthcare.
That’s why, I believe that traditional medicines will remain essential just by the fact that it is much cheaper and easy to produce. Another reason, being availability, unlike personalized healthcare which is hard to be available in every country, especially in underdeveloped countries, which is not the case for traditional healthcare.
In conclusion, handed-down medicines are still relevant nowadays, simply due to the fact that they are much cheaper and can be easily made, whereas custom therapy not only takes more money, it might not be present everywhere.
