Nowadays, companies spend a lot of money searching for oil. Probably in a few decades the world’s oil resources will run out. Some people argue that it is reasonable to allocate part of this money to developing alternative sources of power. From my perspective, it is necessary to have a balance between searching for oil and developing new sources of power.
It is important to continue searching for oil because it still remains the most efficient source of power in the world. In addition, there are many reserves of oil discovered recently in the north of Brazil and in Venezuela that are not explored yet. However, scientists argue that there is a high risk of harming the environment in these places. As a consequence, there is a need to find a solution to explore the oil in a secure way in these locations, while keeping improving the methods of searching for more oil reserves.
Nevertheless, it is probably true to say that in some time the oil will run out, even if we do not know exactly when this will happen. Then it makes sense to put some money into developing alternative sources of power. However, we are already investing in this, as we can see solar power farms are becoming an increasingly common business . Furthermore, some European countries are investing more in wind power. In some parts of the world they are putting wind turbines in the sea because there is more wind, but this is a slow process.
In conclusion, it is still important to search for oil because the world depends on it. However, it is necessary to find alternative sources of power because at some time we will not have access to more oil. That is the reason why I believe it is important to continue searching for oil, while trying to develop new possible sources of power.
