Nowadays, pursuing education in college as a way to support students to increase their job opportunities later in life. While securing a future employment could be regarded as the major merit of going to third-level education, i am of the opinion that purposes of studying university can go far beyond finding a job.
It is undeniable that pursuing tertiary education can be beneficial for university graduates to have more opportunities to get a well-paid job in the future. This is because people graduating from the university are equipped with extensive knowledge as well as skills; thereby they are better prepared for their future career and easily adapt to a new working environment if they begin to work. As a consequense, graduates with a university qualification with a robust technical foundation are likely to generate more values for businesses, which helps them to secure a job in the current increasingly competitive job market.
Despite the above mentioned positive side, i belive that going to college offers more benefits for both individuals and community. On a personal level, i believe that undertaking tertiary education provide young people an environemnt to expand wide circle of relationships. Taking part in clubs or extracurricular activities within an university environment, for instance, which is a way for undergraduates to build up connections with seniors or professors; thereby young people can enrich their life experiences by learning from others. On a societal level, i think that people with an university qualification are more likely to become useful for community. This could be explained by the fact that students will someday be a part of a community and need the skills to exist within that society as thoughtful citizens. As a result, graduates tend to apply theoretical knowledge to hands-on problems, contributing to development of the whole society.
In conclusion, although university education can support undergraduates to secure a place in the labour market, i contend that widening social circles and contribution of society’s living standard should not be overlooked. It is advisable that government could encourage larger numbers of people to pursue university education by subsidising fees.
