These days, the magnitude of designated smoking areas have increased significantly. Not only several companies prohibit their employees from smoking in the workplaces, but also smoking has been banned in all public areas by some government regulations. Although some people claim that this deprives people’s freedom, I personally support banning smoking in public places.
First and foremost, banning smoking in shared spaces is essential for protecting community health. According to World Health Organization, tobacco use is a major risk factor for heart rates problems and respiratory diseases, as well as over 20 different types of cancer. Each year, more than 8 million people die due to tobacco use, with a significant portion of these deaths caused by exposure to secondhand smoke. This highlights some severe consequences of smoking, both smokers and non-smokers who are unwillingly exposed to toxic chemicals. In addition, authorities can implement stricter control measures, such as increasing fines for smoking in prohibited areas and launching awareness campaigns to educate people about the harmful effects of tobacco smoke. Moreover, establishing designated smoking areas can be an effective solution to minimize the impact of secondhand smoke on the community. These measures not only protect public health but also contribute to creating a cleaner and more civilized living environment.
Smoking harms both the environment and the air we breathe. Cigarette smoke contains dangerous chemicals that pollute the air and can cause health problems. Cigarette butts are the most common type of litter, and they take years to break down, polluting the soil and water. Growing tobacco also leads to deforestation, as many trees are cut down to make space for tobacco farms. This reduces the Earth’s ability to absorb carbon dioxide, making climate change worse. These harmful effects show why we should reduce smoking to protect our environment.
In conclusion, smoking not only harms health but also damages the environment. Taking action to reduce smoking can lead to a healthier, cleaner future for everyone.
