Nowadays, many people think that young individuals and adults people who commits crimes should be punished equally. I completely disagree with this view because juveniles are not mature enough, while adults have sufficient knowledge about the negative effects of criminal offences.
On the one hand, young people are not enough mature to understand the negative consequences of crimes. When they commit crime, they are unaware about the outcome of this work. As a result, without understanding the detrimental effects of many crimes, they become involve. For example, many Japanese students play bet online although they have sufficient knowledge about this game. So, they should be treated as adults. In addition, young people should be taught the negative effects of crime. If they observe, it can reduce their values socially, which may reduce the crime rates among juveniles. Therefore, they can protect themselves to get punishment.
On the other hand, adults who commit crimes should be punished because they have adequate understanding level about the harmful effects of crime. If they get punishment, they will not commit same crimes next time. Consequently, it can decrease the proportion of crime among adult’s citizens. Moreover, governments should introduce new laws for adult’s people, which can reduce crime rates in societies. If authorities implement stricter laws against mature people who commit crimes, it can protect societies from harmful effects of crimes.
In conclusion, although young people have responsibility in societies, they commit crimes due to lack of knowledge. I believe that adults and young individuals should not be treated in the same way.
